Model Un at GJHS

Model UN is an activity for 6th-8th grade Jr. High students.  Mr. Swalley and Mr. Dothager are the faculty sponsors for Model UN.  Interested students will be required to do research and write a paper on a topic chosen by Mr. Dothager and Mr. Swalley.  Students will be assigned a country and a particular committee of the UN.  They will spend the school year researching various issues relating to their committee and the position of their country in relation to those issues.  Once they complete their research, they will draft resolutions, which they will present at the TRI-MUN conference, held in the spring.

Model UN Students

Model UN started during the 2017-18 school year at GJHS.  At the first TRI-MUN conference for GJHS, Greenville delegates represented the nations of the Russian Federation, Brazil, Vatican City, Iran, and Sweden, and actively participated in debate centered on International issues. A slideshow of pictures is below.  In Greenville's first year, four delegates were recognized for their exceptional performance. Congratulations to all of the participants!
